How to Install Gcam {Google Camera} and Enable Camera2API

  • At first download, the SDK Platform Tool on your PC and paste the TWRP Image file {twrp.img} in the folder.

  • Now open the Settings of your mobile phone and then move to About Phone section.
  • Now tap on MIUI version 7 times continuously to enable the Developer Options of your mobile phone.
  • Now open Settings again and move to Additional Settings Developer Options and enable the USB Debugging.
  • Then connect your mobile phone with the PC via USB Cable and a popup will appear to click on the Allow USB Debugging.
  • Now open Platform-Tools folder on your PC. Hold the Shift Key on your keyboard and right click on your mouse in the empty area of the screen.
  • Now click on “Open command window here”.

  • Enter the following commands to check the connection between your mobile and PC. Command will show the status and the serial number of the device.

adb devices

  • To boot your phone in fastboot mode, enter the following command

adb reboot bootloader

  • Now your phone will be in fastboot mode. To boot the TWRP file enter the following command:

fastboot boot twrp.img

  • After that, your device will boot in TWRP mode. On the TWRP screen tap on “Keep Read Only” button.

  • Let the device be connected with PC.
  • Go back to the Command Prompt and enter the following command to check the connection of mobile phone with PC.

adb devices

  • This command will show device status and serial number.
  • Here we will need to make some changes in the build prop to enable the Camera2API.
  • Enter the following command:

adb shell

  • Now the adb shell will be opened and you have to enter the following command to enable the Camera2API

setprop persist.camera.HAL3.enabled 1

  • Enter the exit in command prompt to exit the adb shell.
  • After that you have to reboot your device, you can reboot the device via recovery or enter the following command

adb reboot

  • Boom! Once you reboot the device then your mobile phone will have the Camera2API enabled and the TWRP recovery will be removed from your device automatically.
  • After that install the Google Camera Apk file on your mobile phone which we have shared above in the post.
  • That’s it, Now you can enjoy the Google Camera on your mobile phone without root and any issue.
  • To be sure about root you can download the Root Checker application and check whether your device is rooted or not.
