Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\software_reporter_tool.exe]
“Debugger”=”systray.exe”
Yeah, “Image File Execution Options” is nice tool, but its not enough for get rid of this. When Chrome fail to “execute software_reporter_tool.exe”, then it make some random name folder in Temp (for example “ChromeCleaner_0_3600_173849297”) with random name exe (as “d52e7cb4-c38e-4386-8c08-f9c20ef6de35.exe”) and start it from there.
bing took me here. Cheers!
I have two instances of the reporter tool running. Can I delete one?
Neither of these “solutions” work. There is absolutely no way to stop Google’s software reporter tool. It’s invasive malware, and if you use Google Chrome, there’s not stopping it.
I have deleted the contents of the exe program as suggested, and it keeps resurrecting. I have eliminated all the inherited permissions as described on other geeks sites, and it achieve nothing.
I have searched and hunted for a solution for over a year, and turned up nothing.
Google is a most evil company.
The only solution is to use Mozilla Firefox, which uses more CPU and RAM resources and does not run very smoothly. But there’s no alternative.
